Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of the A1 over similar offerings, like the MTen series or the A2?The A1 was designed with portability and beginner friendliness in mind. Smaller-tire wheels like the MTen Mini or MTen4 can be harder to learn on, since there's less surface area on the sides of the wheel to brace against. The A1 is thinner than every MTen and the A2, which is improves ergonomics and allows it to fit in a backpack alongside other items, and its larger sides make it easier to use. Its low price makes it a great option for those looking for their first wheel, or experienced riders who want a lighter grab-and-go wheel with the extra stability that a larger tire affords.

Will there be a trolley handle offered for the A1? No trolley handle accessory is planned at the moment, the logic there is that the wheel is thin and light enough to just be picked up and carried around. This may change in the future if there's enough demand.

Does the A1 have a tubeless tire? Yes, the A1 ships from the factory with a wide 80/70-10 tubeless street tire. Tubeless tires have a number of advantages, such as greater resiliency to punctures when compared to tubed tires, which is ideal for a beginner wheel like the A1, where keeping maintenance to a minimum is important.

Is there App support?Yes, connecting to the A1 is the same as other Begode Wheels, with dozens of customization options, including maximum speed/alarms if there are concerns about limiting the performance of the Wheel.

What is the maximum weight-bearing capacity/load of the A1?Based on historical data from other wheels with the A1's traditional axle design, we wouldn't recommend it to riders over 220lbs. A thicker axle wasn't used on the A1 in the interest of weight savings, for those riders above 220lbs we'd recommend something like the Begode Falcon or Inmotion V9, which use thicker axles.

Can the A1 be rapid-charged?Yes, with the Samsung 50S cells, it ought to be possible to use a 42V/4A charger for a quick sub-1 hour top-up. Although, the main challenge will be finding a charger with the correct connector. 4A is the maximum charge rate specified by Begode, meaning any attempts to charge faster than 4A may result in the BMS preventing the wheel from charging due to the built-in current limit for safety.

What is the motor power rating? The A1 uses an 800W (nominal, peak wattage will be higher) motor, which is adequate for a sub-220lb rider. While this motor isn't the most powerful, the A1's high-discharge Samsung 50S battery cells will be able to deliver enough power to help the Wheel overcome bumps/potholes, keeping you safe as you ride.
