Frequently Asked Questions

When is the F18 expected to start shipping to customers? Our first shipment will be coming in soon, if all goes to plan, we'll be shipping these Wheels out to customers by the end of the year :)

Have there been any improvements made to the F18 since its initial release?Yes, several changes have been made to our F18's. According to King Song, the firmware has been updated to be more responsive, the power pads have been revised to be more effective, the motor bolts have been upgraded, & water resistance has been improved. Firmware stability has also been improved, especially in colder conditions, and the beeper volume can now be adjusted.

What sets the F18 apart from its competitors, like the Lynx? The main draw of the F18 is its lower price, while offering similar functionality to the Lynx, and even some improvements in certain areas. The suspension is more rigid and smoother in comparison, changing the tire is much faster & easier, the pedals are adjustable both in height and dihedral angle, it's more stable at speed. Plus, it includes the latest feature package from King Song, which includes Bluetooth speakers, Apple Find My integration, and excellent lighting adjustability. This wheel would be ideal for someone who wants most of the performance of top-end 18"-class wheels without sacrificing on features & amenities. We've also had reports from hardcore off-road riders that the F18's frame rigidity makes it one of the best options for trail riding & jumping, where top speed isn't as important as predictability in how the wheel will respond to your inputs.

What is the actual achievable top speed? Initial reports indicate that between 45-50mph is achievable, depending on conditions, rider weight, & state of charge, although the wheel ought to be capable of slightly higher speeds. Similar to the F22, the F18 should support an adjustable PWM alarm setting in the app, we'll confirm this with King Song and update this entry once we have more information.

What charger is included with the F18? Is it rapid-charging capable? Are there any aftermarket charger options? Similar to the F22 Pro, the F18 includes a 10A charger in the box, which can provide a nearly full charge in just two hours! Similar to other high-performance wheels, including the F22 Pro, the F18 is also capable of fast charging at up to an astonishing 20A, using both of its charge ports. Although, it is worth noting that such a setup would require high-amperage outlets or a 240V AC input, as the stock charger is already close to the recommended power limit for most household outlets.

Thanks to the Lynx & Sherman-L, there's already an established charger market for 151V wheels like the F18, and we do offer a Roger charger capable of supplying 10A to achieve the full 20A charging speed when combined with the stock charger. The Roger charger also features adjustable amperage, for prolonging the battery packs' lifespan by charging at lower amperages when possible.

Will power pads be included in the box? Yes, every F18 will come with pads included from the factory. King Song has revised the pads to be more comfortable, & to improve their effectiveness for aggressive riding.

How weather-resistant is the F18 Pro? Has it been IP tested? King Song claims IPX6 water resistance, and while there hasn't been any independent certification, they specify that just like the F22 Pro, the Wheel survived "3-minute riding at speed wading a 40mm depth puddle" in their own first-party test. In addition, water resistance has apparently been improved since the first batch, especially for the headlights. We still advise that the general rule for all modern Wheels applies here, which is that light rain and smaller puddles should be alright, but moderate to heavy rain and larger bodies of water are to be avoided wherever possible. Even if the electronics were 100% waterproof, the motor bearings can still experience accelerated wear and degradation with repeated water exposure.

What's the theory behind using four suspension elements, rather than the traditional pair of shocks or single shock + two sliders designs? One of the main issues that suspension Wheels face is a lack of rigidity, which is caused in large part by the inherent instability of two parallel vertical poles that all suspension wheels use, be they stanchions or shocks. While the F18's suspension elements are all still concentrated in the center of the machine, King Song has engineered the mounting brackets and overall frame to be more rigid, and initial rider reports reflect that this makes a significant difference. In addition, being able to adjust air pressure, spring preload, and oil damping allow for the most customizable suspension experience on the market.

What's the highest weight that the suspension can support? Are there different coil weights to match different rider weights, similar to Leaperkim wheels?King Song's spec sheet for the F18 specifies a 140kg max load, which equates to ~308lbs. Recommended air shock pressures for different rider weights can be found in a chart below.

There aren't any plans to offer different coil weights, although that's the philosophy of the air chambers, you can adjust the suspension stiffness and support depending on how much pressure is used.

Can you use different settings across the different shock elements? This is not recommended. Both preload adjustments, both damping adjustments, and both air pressure chambers must have the same settings/pressures to avoid uneven stress on the suspension system, which can accelerate wear or cause other undesired effects.
