Frequently Asked Questions

When is the F22 Pro expected to start shipping to customers? We're finalizing the order details with King Song as of late February, so these should come in on the next container, arriving in late March.

What sets the F22 Pro apart from similar high-performance wheels? The F22 Pro combines the best features from several competitors, while introducing some unique advantages. One of the main advancements is the four-piston suspension system, which reduces frame flex that can be found on similar high-performance wheels, ultimately resulting in a tighter and more responsive ride, aided by King Song's solid firmware/pedal feel. While it's not the fastest out there, its top speed of ~60mph definitely puts it in the highest "speed bracket", and its C38 tile motor provides plenty of torque to handle any riding scenario. It's also equipped with the usual quality of life feature suite that King Song is known for, including an adjustable headlight, tall vertical trolley handle, Bluetooth speakers, USB-C phone charging, and more.

What is the actual achievable top speed? King Song intentionally leaves this bit of information out, but when asked, they mentioned that tilt-back can be disabled and the power/PWM alarm can be set up to 90%. We recommend setting it no higher than 80% as a safe maximum. We estimate the F22 Pro can reach ~60mph on a full charge, give or take few mph depending on conditions, incline, and rider weight.

What charger is included with the F22 Pro? Is it rapid-charging capable? Are there any aftermarket chargers capable of 176.4V?In an industry first, King Song is including a 10A charger in the box that pushes nearly 1800W, which is the recommended maximum charging speed for most household 120V household outlets! The Wheel does have two charge ports though, so a you could combine two stock chargers for a blazing 20A charge (which is its maximum charge rate), although you'd need access to a 240V circuit to avoid tripping the circuit breaker, or you could use two 120V outlets on different circuits.

While we don't offer any compatible fast chargers at the moment, we're working on carrying a 176V-capable Roger charger. Although, we will be ordering some additional stock chargers for those who want to "double up" and achieve that 20A charging speed, although you will need to ensure you either have two outlets on separate circuits, or have a setup that allows for connecting two US-style plugs to a 240V power source capable of at least 4,000W.

Why does one have to choose between the Bluetooth Speakers & LEDs? King Song offers a choice between one of two rear "modules", and there's no option to have no module installed. Some will prefer the Bluetooth speakers over additional rear accent lighting, which also relay system sounds, while some will prefer the extra visibility and show of added accent lightning with no need for music playback functionality.

What is the function of the DC output port?King Song has included an XT30 connector on the front of the wheel next to the USB charging ports, which offers direct fused access to the battery voltage, capable of 20A current output. King Song is working on a 2,000W power inverter (to power 120V AC devices) that will utilize this port, but it's still in development.

How weather-resistant is the F22 Pro? Has it been IP tested? King Song claims IPX6 water resistance, and while there hasn't been any independent certification, they specify that the Wheel survived "3-minute riding at speed wading a 40mm depth puddle". We still advise that the general rule for all modern Wheels applies here, which is that light rain and smaller puddles should be alright, but moderate to heavy rain and larger bodies of water are to be avoided wherever possible. Even if the electronics were 100% waterproof, the motor bearings can still experience accelerated wear and degradation with repeated water exposure.

What do the motor specs mean? For example, "C38" and "tile"? "C38" refers to the width of the magnets that are attached to the rim. In general, wider magnets allow for a greater torque potential since they "capture" more of the magnetic field produced by the motor windings, although magnet width is only one contributing factor to a motor's characteristics. The other factors that go into a motor's maximum rotational speed are its winding pattern, and the voltage it's supplied with. With a higher supply voltage, you can wind the motor to produce more torque with the same rotational speed limit. This is one advantage of the F22 Pro's 176V system, it allowed King Song to produce a motor designed for more torque that's still capable of an impressive ~60mph top speed.

"Tile" indicates that the magnets are slightly curved inwards to match the curvature of the rim. This small change better aligns the magnetic field produced by the magnets with magnetic field generated by the motor windings, which improves efficiency and leads to overall smoother motor operation.

What's the theory behind using four suspension elements, rather than the traditional pair of shocks or single shock + two sliders designs? One of the main issues that suspension Wheels face is a lack of rigidity, which is caused in large part by the inherent instability of two parallel vertical poles that all suspension wheels use, be they stanchions or shocks. Using one suspension element in each corner allows for a more rigid construction, which ultimately leads to more predictable riding and turning behavior.

What's the highest weight that the suspension can support? Are there different coil weights to match different rider weights, similar to Leaperkim wheels?King Song's spec sheet for the F22 Pro specifies a 140kg max load, which equates to ~308lbs. Recommended air shock pressures for different rider weights can be found in a chart below.

There aren't any plans to offer different coil weights, although that's the philosophy of the air chambers, you can adjust the suspension stiffness and support depending on how much pressure is used.

Can you use different settings across the different shock elements? This is not recommended. Both preload adjustments, both damping adjustments, and both air pressure chambers must have the same settings/pressures to avoid uneven stress on the suspension system, which can accelerate wear or cause other undesired effects.
